This story on disc represents the latest installment in New Media╒s line of Talking Tales for CD-ROM. Beauty and the Beast has been completely rewritten and illustrated, presenting fresh, original renditions of these classic fairy tales. Narration, sound effects, animation, and engaging background music are seamlessly blended to create the perfect reading experience for children and adults alike. Full-screen activity pages allow users to click on different characters and objects that activate amusing animated sequences. Thought-provoking reading comprehension questions are included on each disc.
Each story is divided into chapters, allowing readers to stop the program and pick up later where they left off. Users also control the pace of the program and may choose to hear the story narrated straight through, page by page, or only when the mouse is clicked on the Read button. Difficult words are highlighted on each page of Beauty and the Beast. Users may click on these words at any point to hear them pronounced and defined aloud.
